Table Finish Information
Oil-Based Lacquer Finish for Solid Wood Furniture
Our oil-based lacquer is the ideal finish for solid wood furniture, offering a hard, durable, and scratch-resistant surface. We achieve a near-flawless finish by applying 3-4 sprayed coats, sanding between each layer.
Durability for Everyday Use
Dining room tables endure a lot of wear and tear, especially in households with young children. Whether it's for eating, playing, or doing homework, our lacquer finish is designed to withstand daily use.
Benefits of Oil-Based Lacquer:
-
No Need for Coasters: You can leave a glass of ice water on the table without worrying about water rings, even in the summer.
-
Easy Clean-Up: Spills are easily wiped up. Unlike less durable finishes, our lacquer won't require stripping even if you spill something like Kool-Aid.
-
Long-Lasting Protection: Our oil-based lacquer doesn’t need reapplication and won't dry out over time, unlike some oil finishes.
Usage Recommendations:
- Heat Protection: Use hot pads or trivets for hot items to avoid damage.
- Chemical Spills: Avoid spilling chemically abrasive substances like nail polish remover.
- Cleaning: Avoid using harsh chemicals. A wet rag or soapy water works well, and any wood-safe cleaning product is suitable.
Special Note on Barn Wood Finish:
Our barn wood finish uses a water-based polyurethane to achieve its unique color. While still durable, this finish is more delicate, so we recommend using coasters to avoid water marks. All other finishes utilize our oil-based lacquer.
Finish Appearance:
We default to a satin/low sheen finish, which we find looks best on solid wood furniture. It is also easier to keep clean and free from smudges compared to higher gloss finishes.
